Shown here is a totally insane Paper Craft Toy designed by J.P. Cote of Paper Empire Toys. It's the JOKER'S "I SCREAM" ICE CREAM TRUCK Model Kit in 1:24th Scale!! For people unfamiliar with this type of thing, basically what you do is: You download a few PDF files of this model onto your computer, you print them out with your PC's Printer on "card stock" paper, & then you cut them out. After that: you bend, fold, & paste them into this vehicle. Think of it as a Car Model Kit made out of paper! But just check out the photos here, this thing is CRAZY, ha ha! It comes with Rocket Launcher Silos, Joker Head Turret on the Top, a Rocket Exhaust on the Back, & even a Specially-Sized JOKER Action Figure! Watch what happens when Harley Quinn has a blind date with the eccentric man-child, Pee-Wee Herman. This fan-made Batman movie short made by Influence Films is actually pretty good. If anything, the costumes are really great! Also, don't forget to stay tuned for the bloopers during the credits!
This brand-new Character Glass of POISON IVY just hit the market & like all the other glasses from this series will probably sell-out pretty soon. I love that they devoted a glass to one of Batman's villains. The graphics are really great! On the front is the image you see up above & on the back is her name done like a "comic book logo". Oh yeah, I guess I should mention that the glass is totally clear but in this photo a piece of white paper was put inside to allow the image to be photographed. So, it looks a lot more cool than the dumb photo. This glass, of course, is one of the "Toon Tumblers" in the DC Comics line. Here's a very well done promotional video for the BATMAN VAULT Book. It gives you a really good idea what this very interesting item looks like on the inside. As you can see it's loaded with a lot of fun reproductions to remove & look at. I still have not bought this yet but plan to get one later.
The main focus of the Bat-Blog is really about the joys of Collecting Batman Toys. So I thought it would be a good idea to get back to that, ha ha! Up above are some photos of a few really RARE pieces of Bat-Merchandise! The 1st item is from the 1970's & is one of the weirdest Batman Products I have ever seen. It's an unopened package of SILLY-SACKS Wastebasket Liners. Yes, Trash Bags! The company that made these printed DC Comics Superhero Characters on white trash bags, ha ha! I guess it tricked a lot of kids to take out the trash? But overall I think these are pretty cool just on the rarity scale! The next picture is guaranteed to make Vintage Bubble Gum Card Collectors totally drool. This is the original Retail-Display Box for the 1966 Batman TV Series Trading Cards made by Topps. This was a later series where all the cards had color photos of the actors instead of painted illustrations...nice! Now, the last photo is sort of weird but when you think about it, it's a really cool toy! This is a BATMAN Inflatable Swimming Pool Toy that was made by Ideal in the 1960's. It's so cool that it is still in the original package with the header card & everything! HAPPY NEW YEAR! Since it's the very 1st day of a brand new year I thought it would be a good time to mention a really great charity that I just discovered. It's called the TOYS FOR TOTS Literacy Program. Now, long time Bat-Blog readers know we hype the regular TOYS FOR TOYS charity every year around Christmas. It's that organization run by the US Marines where they give toys to under-privileged children. Well, now they have another charity where they circulate new books to children who do not have access to libraries. They not only make sure lots of kids get books of their very own but they also teach them how to read. You see, it's all about teaching kids how to read & learn to love books. This is something I believe in very strongly. I love reading, love books, & can't imagine a life without being enriched by them. So, this charity has now become very important for me. What I would like to do right now is ask every reader of the Bat-Blog to please consider making a donation to TOYS FOR TOTS or even just spreading the word about it.
